This kitchen needed a complete rethink rather than a refresh. It was cramped and awkward, barely fit two people at once, and had next to no bench space. The rangehood blocked access to the appliances and storage was minimal. The turning point came after several layout iterations, with the decision to remove the dividing wall between the two lounge rooms. What had been a segmented floor plan opened into one large, light-filled space with the kitchen sitting at the centre of it.
The client came in with a clear picture: shaker-style cabinetry, a generous island, and an appliance cupboard to keep the benches clear. Storage went in as drawers at bench height, with power points where they’re actually needed, including on the island. Laminex benchtops were chosen deliberately over stone for durability. The plan was also built around the existing waste points, which avoided cutting the slab and kept the job moving. Delivered just before Christmas.
