The reconfiguration did the heavy lifting on this one. Working with our interior designer Amanda, the clients added a second toilet and removed the bath to make room for a larger shower, which opened the floor plan up considerably. The mirror and vanity moved to a far more usable position as part of the same rework.
Neutral wall tiles keep the base clean, and the reclaimed timber vanity and matching mirror bring in the rustic side. The hero of the room is the wallpaper, selected with help from the clients’ children, which is where all the colour and personality lands. A timber towel ladder and shelf carry the same finish through. The detail worth looking for is a single mismatched tile, set deliberately as a nod to the Japanese idea that an imperfection brings good luck. A faux skylight adds soft ambient light overhead, so the room stays even once the window light drops off in the afternoon.
