Originally built in the 1980s, this bathroom had long outlived its practicality. The shower was tiny, the layout was dated, and it was never comfortable for visiting family or older guests. A larger renovation at that end of the house finally made it possible to deal with. The old window was bricked in and a large mirror took its place, which brought brightness and depth back into the room, helped along by a solar skylight and full-height tiling.
The clients came in with strong ideas of their own. Two shower niches and a full-width shelf were non-negotiable, even when a simpler approach was suggested. A pre-purchased vanity cabinet became the anchor for everything else, with Amanda guiding the tile choices and recommending a benchtop to sit against it. Battening the walls before tiling was the call that lifted the finish, one of those decisions nobody notices unless it isn’t made.
