The original kitchen was dated and hard to maintain, with awkward corner cupboards, no dishwasher, and a strip of unused space above the cabinets that only gathered dust. This was a forever-home project, so every surface, storage option and appliance was chosen for accessibility and ease of use. The layout stayed close to what was there, but drawers replaced the hard-to-reach cupboards, and internal systems now bring pantry and corner items forward with minimal effort. The kickboard pulls out as a step.
Amanda guided the client through the selections, including a lighter palette that improves visual contrast and makes the space easier to move through safely. A hidden tea and coffee station, inspired by a neighbour’s kitchen, is built into the cabinetry. Reclaimed timber under the cabinets warms up the induction cooktop and modern appliances, and an Illume skylight went in on Shane’s recommendation. The second drawer has its own power points.
